A temperamental player who is unknown to many , professional footballer who plays for Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1. Thauvin previously played for Grenoble and made his professional debut on 11 March 2011 in a 1–1 league draw with Vannes.[2] Following the liquidation of Grenoble after the season, which saw the club relegated to the Championnat de France amateur 2, Thauvin departed the club and signed his first professional contract with Corsican side Bastia.[3] On 28 October 2012, he scored his first goal for Bastia in a 3–1 victory over Bordeaux.[4]
On 29 January 2013, Thauvin signed a four and a half year deal with Ligue 1 club Lille, putting an end to media speculation of a switch to English football club Arsenal. The transfer fee was reported to be around €3.5 million. Thauvin was subsequently sent to Bastia on a six-month loan deal, keeping him at the top-flight Corsican club until the end of the 2012–13 season.[5]
On 2nd September 2013, after weeks of drawn out negotiations, Thauvin signed a five-year deal with Olympique de Marseille. The 20-year-old had been absent from training, and forced a move to Stade Velodrome, eventually signing for 15million including bonuses.
